Instructor: Mario KaplThe reconstruction of smooth surfaces from given data, such as (structured) point clouds, is an important problem in the reverse engineering process of geometric objects in industrial applications. Thereby, the point cloud can be obtained by collecting sample points from the surface of the real object, using 3D scanning technologies like laser range scanners.
The task of this project is the construction of a smooth surface from a given (structured) point cloud, which describes the real object. For this we consider and develop diﬀerent tools for representing and constructing a CADmodel of the real object.
